A brand-new perspective to sustainable and ethical fashion: digital fashion. As new trends sweep through social media weekly, fast fashion brands scramble to meet consumer demand resulting in waste, greenhouse gas emissions, and exploitation of labour. Digital fashion allows consumers to create a ‘digital closet’ where pixels replace fabrics and users can display their pieces on social media. DressX is a digital fashion brand co-founded by Daria Shapovalova and Natalia Modenova that is both sustainability oriented and trend oriented.

DressX features multiple designers and collections that appeal to different styles, usually with a futuristic touch. The pieces are extremely unique and are even a step ahead of fast fashion when it comes to making a difference. Vibrant colors, refined textures, and mind-bending designs can be found at DressX - minus the waste and toxic dyes.

The United Nations considers the fashion industry to be one of the largest polluters in the world according to the Conference on Trade and Development, and DressX acknowledges this environmental damage and brings a sustainability oriented alternative. Their findings show that digital garment production:

-       emits 97% less CO2

-       saves 3300 liters of water per item

compared to the traditional production of physical clothes. DressX is committed to following the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and already contribute to Goals 9, 12, 13 and 17 of the seventeen goals outlined.

The DressX website provides a step-by-step guide on how to use their digital clothes:

-       Pick your digital outfit/pay for it

-       Submit a picture of yours that you want to post

-       Receive an email with your desired outfit fitted onto your picture.

DressX enables customers to live out their social media fashion fantasy of an unlimited closet guilt-free.
